We had a great final week of career month this week. It has been so much fun to watch our students learn about different career paths and we have definitely had some interesting conversations about all that we have learned this month.
On Tuesday our class went on a field trip to the library where we got to see how everything works.
On Thursday we had an exciting visit from Dan Lockwood who works ski patrol at Mt. Hood Meadows. The kids loved hearing all about helping people on the mountain.
Our final career month visit was on Friday when Trisha Highland who is a fitness instructor. The kids got to hear all about eating right and staying active.
Once again we had an incredible career week last week. It has been so awesome to watch our students so excited to learn about all the things they can do when they grow up!!

Marissa Martinis came and talked to two different classes about being a firefighter!
Our T/TH morning class took a walking field trip to the Safeway bakery to learn all about being a baker.
We got a visit from Laura Stadler, a Labor & Delivery and Postpartum nurse. She even brought baby monkeys, swaddle blankets and bottles so all the kids could practice!
And our week ended with a visit from a carpenter, Kelbe Cronen. Our students got to practice hammering nails and made their own napkin holders.
What a fun a full week we had!!
On Tuesday students learned all about being a letter carrier and they even got to practice delivering letters. Thank you Aaron Biehl for coming and sharing.
On Wednesday our class got a visit from a lawyer – Thank you Jose.
Also on Wednesday students got to be pizza makers and make their own lunches.
Thursday included a visit from George, who is an engineer and making our own pizzas for lunch.
And the week ended with a visit from Mary who is a nurse as well as a walking field trip to Key Bank to learn about banking.
It was definitely a two thumbs up week!!
What a blast we had this week kicking off our career month. Tuesday we had a visit from Jory Moran (Jasper’s dad) who is an elevator engineer.
Thursday we got to learn all about being an electrician from Grant Cahill (Oliver’s dad).
Finally, this week ended with a walking field trip to Cloud City Ice Cream where we learned how they make ice cream and we even got to taste test and get our own scoops.
This month we will be exploring various careers and duties of those careers. We will be having some parents come into our school to share with us details about their jobs.
Some examples of who will be coming in:
- Elevator mechanic
- Ski patrol
- Fitness Instructor
We will also be going on some “walking field trips” to some local businesses. Some of those businesses include:
- Woodstock Library
- Safeway Bakery
- Cloud City Ice Cream Shop
- Key Bank
Our playroom in our school is going through another change and we have some exciting new play areas associated with career month. They are: Chinese restaurant, school, hair dresser, construction site, space station, bank and post office.
