Spring is here!! We have lots of fun events planned for this month, including nature walks, plant sales, jam making, and a rummage sale!

STRAWBERRY JAM: We will be making strawberry freezer jam on Wednesday May 27 and Thursday May 28. Students will take part in washing strawberries, adding ingredients and canning the jam. They will be able to take a jar of jam home as well as eat it on bread for a yummy snack. We would appreciate any donations of small canning jars and lids.

RUMMAGE SALE: Our rummage sale is at the schoolhouse on Friday and Saturday, May 29 & 30. Please bring items by to donate to the sale. If you need items picked up, please let us know! We can use some volunteer help Thursday night (May 28) and Friday morning for set-up, and Sunday morning for clean-up. Please ask friends and family about donating as well.

PLANT SALE: Start thinking about your yard for spring. Orders are due by May 6 and we will have them in time for Mother’s Day. We will have a variety of flowers to choose from, including amazing hanging baskets.

LIFE CYCLES: This month we will be studying life-cycles. We will look closely into four specific amazing cycles: the butterfly, the frog, the chicken, the plant. Throughout the month, we will be able to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies in our live butterfly garden! Students will be planting seeds indoors and they will get to watch them sprout. We will also be releasing ladybugs into our garden again this year.

MAD SCIENTIST VISIT: On May 18 and 19 (am class only) we will be visited by The Mad Scientist. We will get down and dirty learning about worms. Students will get up close with a magnifying glass and explore the lives and habits of our friend, the worm.
