February Newsletter
Feelings and Emotions Theme
This month, we will help children identify and name their emotions, as well as reacting to their emotions. We will explore various emotions and feelings by songs, games, activities, art projects, etc. We will also use a social-emotional activity unit called “Second Steps”. By using real-life situations, this unit teaches: empathy, advocating for oneself, getting along with others, fair ways to play, how to calm down, feelings, and more!
We will also be reading the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today?, which encourages positive behavior by using the concept of an invisible bucket to show children how easy and rewarding it is to express kindness, appreciation and love by “filling buckets”.
Greeting Card Shop
We will have a greeting card table, where students will be able to make cards for friends and family, whether it’s for cheering them up or just telling them how much they care.
Mail Delivery
Family members are welcome to send a letter to your child at school! Please keep it to ONE letter. Put your child’s name on it and address it to:
Valentine’s Day Party
Our Valentine’s Day parties will be on Thursday, Feb. 13 and Friday, Feb. 14. All students are invited to exchange valentines. Please be sure they bring enough valentines for each classmate. You do not need to address each valentine card to specific students. Please have your child write their name if they feel comfortable doing so. Students will be making valentine mail pouches to keep their cards in at the time of our valentine exchange. During our day, we will have a special valentine snack and play friendship games.
Black History Month
In recognition of Black History Month, we will be reading picture books about differences and equality. If you have any books to share, please bring them in for us to borrow.

This is a great class to join and a good introduction into preschool.
